I have been visiting this restaurant since 2004. I love it. Never been in a better Indian restaurant on planet Earth, even though I visited Michelin starred Indian restaurants as well. Food quality is excellent and can be described as seriously authentic. Best choice: Bhelpuri for appetiser followed by a Butter chicken & garlic naan combo. Plus salty lassi for sure. Enjoy!
The best Indian authentic food in the whole of Europe. Especially loved their Kheema Curry, Dal Tadka, Jeera Rice and the exquisite collection of Single Malt Whiskeys.

Very good Indian restaurant in the City. Authentic and original taste. I have tried Indian restaurants in lot of places around Europe but this is far the best! If you want to adjust the spice level, let them know in advance ;)
Delicious Food
Great staff with very tasty food. 3 of us went for a meal on Saturday night: The place was busy. We had Prawns tikka, seek kebab, chicken wings for starters. These were all cooked to perfection and had the right level of spice.
For mains we had lamb Bhuna - this was tasty and the lamb was soft.
Paneer Makhni, very nice.
Chicken Vindaloo, this was nice but not as hot as we would like.
All in all great food, nice place would certainly suggest trying it out.

Fantastic night
Really nice place with cosy athmosphere. Waitresses were kind, helpfull and well prepared, they helped us with the menu and wear beautifull sari wich gave more authentic feeling. All dishes were delicious, it was like a trip to India.
Great selection of dishes, and plenty of vegetarian options. Food was generous and flavorful. The ambiance was pretty good, and the staff wete helpful and gave us some good pointers on what to get. Perhaps the most surprising was the indian cocktail selection, which I can definitely recommend. Worth the visit and good price value.
Great menu, very tasty food, beautiful and clean place, friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Had a lovely and special family reunion meal, which was even better around the 10-person round table.

Good Indian food is harder to find than one would think. This place gets it right. We had chicken tikka masala and chicken tandoori. Both were excellent and in a small group of top Indian restaurants we have been to. Mango lassi is also incredible. Great food!

Excellent food. I did not give 5 stars only because the decor/ambiance was a bit lacking. On the menu were many, many things that I have not found on restaurants in NY. Very reasonable prices too.

Best Indian food outside India
Food - We ordered appetizers with chicken, several kinds of dosa, biryani, naans and few vegetarian dishes. Everything came out perfect, and we were reminded of India with every bite. Have not come across over any better Indian restaurant during our travels in 4 continents.
The best Indian restaurant in Europe. I became a fan of their saffron lassi. We ordered Dal makhani and paneer butter masala in vegetarian with Indian spicy level. The taste was so good that we didn't even feel for once that we were not in India. The staff even though local was so polite and kind. I really recommend this restaurant. If you are planning to visit Budapest, do keep this one in your options.
Best Indian food ever
To say that this is the best Indian food lve ever tasted is not an understatement.
I have eaten Indian food all over Europe and this restaurant was recommended by a friend...it did not disappoint.
We usually order a few different dishes and share. Every one was out of this world. The service was top notch too.

This is one of the best places to get Indian Food in Budapest! The ambiance of the restaurant is authentic; from the furniture to the paintings and cutlery, they all have an indian touch to them. I cannot count the number of times I have had takeout from this place; the food is that good. The food is a bit pricey but its worth it.
Recommendations: Dal Tarka, Dal Makhani, Laccha Parantha, Masala/Paneer Dosa (one of the few places in Budapest where you’ll get Dosa), Mango/Sweet Lassi. For the people who like crazy hot stuff: Paneer 65 (this was my favourite).

This nice indian restaurant tucked in the small lanes of Budapest completely justifies its name. You enter this place and you get greeted by very courteous staff who throughout your time they make sure you get treated like royalty and shoutout to chefs for bringing India in Budapest and hats off to owner for having such a fine running machinery.
Wonderful Indian Food
An incredible tasty food in a very lovely place. The welcome is perfect. We ate a butter and a korma chicken. How delicious it was! And I highly recommend their missi roti (indian butter bread close to a parotha one) which is amazing!!! If you like Indian food, you cannot be disappointeg going there!

Great Indian food
We tried this Indian restaurant on our trip to Budapest in February 2022. The food was great and well suited for the Indian palette. Highlight was proper Indian style tandoori Naan and paratha.

Terrific Indian Restaurant slightly off the beaten track
Excellent Indian restaurant. Really great decor, wide spaces between tables, great service and staff in Indian dress. Great atmosphere and lots of Indian customers which is usually a good sign the food is good. We had the assorted starters as sharing plates with pappadams. These were beautifully presented . As well as the usual onion bhajis and tikkas , there were a couple of different things you normally don’t see a horn of minced chicken and a deep fried spinach wheel with cheese that were great. These came with a hot mint and coriander dip. For main courses we had Tawa Lamb, chicken vindaloo, Karahi Fish and Chicken methi with a Dal side dish. There was plenty of food and the nan breads were massive. Highly recommend the Keema Nan.
The service was also great too! All four of us left full.

Easily the best indian in Budapest
Tried this place over a decade ago for the first time with some work colleagues from India, who said it was like eating at home (Chennai). Since then returned time to time whenever visiting Budapest, and it never disappointed. Very tasty, properly spiced, well prepared dishes.
Now living in Budapest we tried some other places which were closer to us, but all of them are a disappointment (some hugely) compared to Taj Mahal.

I’ll be honest, I had no idea what to expect as an Indian myself, finding good Indian restaurants is rare but I was blown away here.
Firstly the service was outstanding, the waitresses were very welcoming and polite. The food was really tasty, we got the aloo papri chaat for starters which was spicy and amazing.
For the mains we had butter chicken which was so creamy and mushroom masala- didn’t expect this dish to be creamy so it wasn’t perfect but still nice alternative to butter chicken.

I visited Taj last day and I was very satisfied with the food and service.
We had masala dosa, chicken biriyani, soup and a tea. I have only positive feedbacks on all of these items. The staff were welcoming and pleasant. How they interacted and took order was also good. So overall I'm happy with the service and food. The cost is not on lower side, but obviously for that place it was reasonable.

This restaurant comes with a great selection of authentic Indian food, polite staff, nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. It is quite elegant to have company events there. Recommended.
Taj Mahal Budapest
Me and my boyfriend visited the Taj Mahal because of a romantic dinner. We had a great, tasty, delicious journey in Asia's cuisine. The service was very kind,professional and helpful,so many thanks for our super waiter, Tomi!:)

Good Indian restaurant even by international standards with authentic kitchen. If you are staying in Budapest, and looking for a nice Indian dinner, this is one place to go.
Amazing place.
It's our second time that we eat in this Indian restaurant (the previous one was 3 years ago). It has the same high quality. The food is very good, but if you don't want spicy food - you should say it in advance (and it's still a little bit spicy). The Samosa and the garlic Naan are great, as well as the main meat dishes. We ordered one main dish with Salmon, which has not so much fish. The rice is not included in the main dish. The Lasi drink is quiet small. The prices are quiet high for Budapest, but they are OK according to the high quality and service. We arrived late for the lunch, so there were only few people.

This is the best Indian restaurant outside of India we ever tried in Europe. All the vegetarian dishes are delicious, and the palak paneer and the dhal are spectacular.
Hidden Gem
We found this restaurant by chance and glad we did. The food was delicious and I loved the decor, but what amazed me most, was the fact all the female staff wore saris!

I have also tried several Indian restaurants in Budapest, and nothing compares to here. The chicken corma for example is the most flavourful. The lamb in the dishes is soft and flavourful. The butter naan is exceptional, and also deserves high praise. The starters are delicious and are just enough.
The service deserves it's own praise, because the staff is incredibly welcoming.

A very nice indian restaurant!
I'm not from Budapest, but I drive 300 km to eat in this wonderful place. Sometimes I also take a package for the following days😄. I really like the taj mahal chicken and paneer tikka masala. The onion badji appetizer is insane too🫠

Over the 12 years I have been going regularly to this restaurant I was never disappointed. The service, ambient and on top of everything, the taste and mix of flavours of the first class food that gets out of their kitchen, fitted with two tandoors and a bunch of professional Indian cooks, makes this choice perfect to enjoy the flavours of India.

I am currently in Budapest on a business trip with some Indian colleagues (we all come from the USA).
One of my colleagues wanted to have Indian vegetarian cuisine and this is the reason we ended up at Taj Mahal.
I'm working for an Indian company for the past 15 years (I have been many times to India) and had a ton of really great Indian food in my life, but I have to admit that the Chicken Tikka Masala they made was truly spectacular. The gravy was out of this world and my Indian colleagues were all very impressed with the quality and taste at this restaurant (we had 2 vegetarian and three meat dishes).
